October 16, 2002 Brann’s Grand Rapids
PRESENT: Carl Schiner, Sue Brann, Chip Knappen, Jim Reinert, Michael Fick, Ken Young, Bruce, Taylor, Dennis O’Brien, Ruth Cunningham, Ron Edwards, Brian Klebba, Dennis Daxberger, John Jenkins, Deann Jenkins, KathyVanKlompenberg, Sherwin VanKlompenberg, Dave Corey, Jackie Bottomley, Patrick Mulvihill, Larry Klose, Glenn Sheathelm, Tony Wolfer, Colleen Wolfer.
CALL TO ORDER: Meeting was called to order at 2:45pm by Region Director John Jenkins.
MINUTES: Secretary’s report of the meeting 3-13-02 was accepted as written.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Larry Klose states that our cash balance is currently $15,387. Financial reports are due Aug 15. Treasurer’s Report was accepted. Budget items should be submitted to Larry.
NEW BUSINESS:
CALENDAR: Calendar for the 2002-2003 West Michigan Region was set. Copy on file.
DISCUSSION:
Subsidy of cost of Region banquets was brought up. It was moved and seconded that three Section Chiefs get together and submit a budget proposal for spring banquets. 14 were in favor, 8 against.
Discussion was held concerning the new OEC text. The refresher cycle this year will be based on this edition. The text is $49.50 and the workbook $24.50. The instructors manual would be 23-25. Total of 95-100 dollars. The issue of whether the cost for instructors should be covered in part or in whole by the Region will be addressed in the OEC Advisors Budget submission.
Budget approval will be made by line officers on a program by program basis. This motion passed with three opposed.
