Western Michigan Region, NSP
May 6, 2006 Brann’s Grand Rapids
Region Officers Present: Region Director, Tony Wolfer; Assistant Region Director, Gregg Hoppe; Secretary, Colleen Wolfer; Treasurer, Larry Klose.
Region Advisors Present: Awards, Kathy Young; Alpine Proficiency, Chip Knappen; Alpine NSP-C School, Kevin Fultz; Instructor Development, Pat Livingston; National & LC Appointment Review Board, Sue Brann; OEC, Karen Hadden.
Section Officers Present: WM1 Section Chief, Mike Bender; WM1 Section Chief Elect, Ken Young; WM3 Section Chief, Tom Fisher.
Patrol Representatives Present: Caberfae Peaks, Deann Jenkins; Timber Ridge, Jim Williams.
Division Officers and Advisors Present: Division Public Relations Advisor, Sherwin VanKlompenberg.
Call to Order: Meeting was called to order by Region Director Tony Wolfer at 2:40pm.
Staff Reports
Secretary’s Report: Minutes of the meeting, March 8, 2006, were accepted as written.
Treasurer’s Report: Larry Klose presented his report, written copy on file.
Chip Knappen recommends that we delete Section #4-8-12 from the P&P proposed amendments. Discussion followed. Chip Knappen moves to adopt the revisions for the P&P as written with the exception of 4-8-12 which should read, “Group lodging shall be reimbursed up to a maximum of $40 per day, with the reimbursement subject to the submission of receipts”. It is understood that one report will be filed for the group. Seconded by Deann Jenkins. Vote passed. Chip Knappen suggested that we all thank Larry Klose for all his work on updating the Region Policies & Procedures.
2007 Budget Report:
Gregg Hoppe - NSPC Ski School will need additional funds to update training
to meet standards. A separate line will be created to cover the new category.
$800.00 will be allocated. Line item for Alpine needs to be increased by
$500.00. Chip Knappen moves that we accept Larry Klose’s planned budget as
written with the above changes, passed.
2007 Calendar Report: Region calendar for the 2006-07 season was discussed and set. See attached copy.
2007 Fall Division Meeting Committee: Jim Williams, Vice Chairman for Committee, reported. Volunteers for the committee would be appreciated. Rooms are reserved at the Radisson in Kalamazoo. Committees have split responsibilities and are working on details.
